Can I apply?
If you are serious about trying to have a career as an actor but are worried about the process and cost of applying to drama school then Open Door is for you.

We can give you the support you need to approach your audition with confidence, knowing that you have benefited from the advice and training of industry professionals. Eight successful candidates will also have their audition fees paid at six of the top UK drama schools.

In order to apply for Open Door, you will need to:

  • Be aged 18-25
  • Be London based
  • Have an annual family household income of less than £30,000
  • Not currently hold a degree
  • Have a commitment to acting as a career goal
  • Want to apply for a BA(hons) acting course (2018 intake)

We will need to check the financial records of the selected participants, so please do not apply if you do not meet all the criteria above. This is a project aimed at young people who could not otherwise afford to audition for drama school.

When are the auditions?

Auditions will be held around London on the following weekends although you only need to be available in the morning or afternoon on one of these dates:

  • October 14-15
  • October 21-22
  • October 28

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Monday 9 October.

What can I expect on the day?

You will be invited to come along for a morning or afternoon session on one of the above dates.

The day will begin with an informal warm up workshop with two of our tutors to hopefully get you nice and relaxed so that you can perform your best. Remember, we’re here to help to succeed and so we’ll do all we can to make this an enjoyable experience for you.

You’ll then get the chance to perform a monologue you would have prepared in front of two panelists who you’ll already have met during the course of the day. This individual audition should take around 10 minutes.

We will then recall a number of applicants on the afternoon of October 29 for a second audition in central London.

All applicants must be available to audition on Sunday 29 October from 1.00-5.30pm.

Successful applicants will be notified by Tuesday 7 November.
